Mount Jiuhua

Mount Jiuhua (九華山 Jiuhua-shan) is a sacred Buddhist mountain in the southwestern part of Qingyang County, Chizhou City, Anhui Province, China.

Jiuhua Mountain is 1,342 m (4,403 ft) high, one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, and is associated with the Dizang Bodhisattva. During the Buddhist golden era in China, more than 200 temples graced the slopes of this mountain. However, only 50 temples remain. A national civilized scenic tourist area, one of the first national natural and cultural dual heritage sites, and a world geopark, with an area of 174 km2 (67 sq mi), and consists of 11 scenic spots.

Jiuhua Mountain has a deep cultural heritage. Since the Jin and Tang dynasties, there have been many celebrities, leaving behind many poems, rhymes, songs and paintings. There are more than 2,000 cultural relics in Jiuhua Mountain, more than 500 poems and songs by celebrities and scholars, and more than 20 ruins of academies and schools.

You can arrive by train to Tongling or Chizhou. There are coach buses directly to Mount Jiuhua.

  • Jiuhua Mao Feng — Also called Jiuhua Fu Tea, which belongs to the green tea category. It is recorded to have originated in China during the Song Dynasty. Its shape is flat and straight in the shape of Buddha’s hand, its color is emerald green, and its inner quality is fragrant and mellow.
